Watarru IPA was declared in 2000, and covers approximately 1.2 million ha in the south-western corner of the APY Lands. APY Land Management runs regular camping trips to the IPA with Traditional Owners from across APY, helping them to maintain strong connections to their country. IPA Rangers are currently running a fox-baiting trial, which is targeted around known [Vulnerable] Great Desert-skink Tjakura (Liopholis kintorei) and [Vulnerable] Malleefowl, Nganamara (Leipoa ocellata) sites.
